Picture is of "Bill Dawkins"

By Derek Ray (13/10/2008)

This is also my Dad, DC William Dawkins as a Scenes of Crime Officer.

Clearly, the ladder was not to give this tall man access to the driving seat. He would not want to be curled up in there for long, I'll wager. Ha ha

I remember the mini-van used by scene of crimes, my Dad was D.C. Donald Church and he worked as photographer at 'A' Divison near the Town Hall where their was a dark room. He worked on the Harvey Holford murder case amongst others

I was stood next to this mini van at the time of the HMI (Her Majestys Inspector of Constabulary)inspection I believe 1966 or 67. The HMI asked me why I was standing with this particular vehicle, to which I replied, 'There is nowhere else for me to stand' to which the Deputy Chief Constable Bob Beard said, 'He's got an answer for everything' I was working in the garage workshop at the time as a cadet, but the Force didn't want the HMI to know I was a 'grease monkey cadet'
